Project Scope
North Pine Water Treatment Plant undertook an upgrade of ACB’s over their Raw Water Pumps to improve safety and access to the Raw Water Pumps. Following on from this work and still be completed is the replacement of the Raw Water Pump Motors.

Challenges
- Arc flash management during investigations and undertaking works in areas affected.
- Tight shutdown timeframes while maintaining backup power systems.
- Multiple stakeholders including owner design engineers with design ownership.
- Integration and testing of motor management controllers with new single speed motors.
- Selection of motors suited for Variable Speed Drive upgrade.
- Vibration management and testing.
Outcomes
- Successful procurement, supply, installation, test and commissioning of 150 kW TEFC motors.
- Successful detailed design and installation of blast wall for arc fault mitigation.
- Successful detailed design, procurement, installation test and commissioning of Air Circuit Breakers and Motor Circuit Breakers within existing switchboard for arc flash reduction and mitigation.
- Successful reduction in vibrations once new motors and minor adjustments undertaken.
