Our Engineering Project Experience

Water Treatment Plant, Solids Residue Handling, North Pine

Written by Taya Griffiths | 2023

Project Scope

North Pine Water Treatment Plant undertook an upgrade of the solids residue handling equipment and process to improve and automate the systems, and to ensure consistency of equipment and process across all sites.  The project plan was to minimise impact on operations during upgrade and provide a completely serviceable and maintainable solution.

  • Design and construct
  • EI&C Detailed Design, Procurement, Fabrication, Installation, Test and Commissioning of Dewatering Facility.
  • Switchboard Detailed Design, Procurement, Fabrication and delivery.
  • 6.6kV/400V Kiosk transformer termination and testing.
  • 6.6kV Electrical Infrastructure Installation, Test, Verification, Test and Commissioning.

Challenges

  • Integrating preferred process equipment into design to meet client electrical and control specifications.
  • Interfacing with existing power and control system networks.
  • Selection of correct instrumentation fit for use, maintainability and longevity to allow automatic plant process.

Outcomes

  • Successful detailed design, construction allowing for ease of commissioning.
  • Successful implementation of correct instruments through lessons learned from other previous projects, stakeholder engagement and in-house instrumentation knowledge.
  • Successful integration of control system into wider plant control system.
  • Zero safety incidents
